DIY YOUR OVERSIZED PONCHO X ADD COLOR

I fell in love with oversized ponchos and capes a few years ago and my love affair has continued into 2015. I think it both glamorous and incredibly cozy plus I can wear it several different ways. This is go-to piece layers easily over a sweater and any style denim pants or leggings for a comfortable, yet pulled together look. I am still thinking to invest in an oversized poncho I've been eyeing for months (the Burberry one!), but can not dare to spend more than 1000$ on it… Think about it. It is only a piece of fabric and that is it.  So, I took the opportunity to DIY my perfect poncho and teach you how to do it for a few hours! See all details below!

To DIY your own poncho will need:

2 yards of wool or cashmere fabric at least 50 inches wide. I used Carolina Herrera wool.
Scissors
Chalk for marking
Ruler
Matching color treads
Needle

Cut fabric into a rectangle 2 yards x 50-60 inches and put it on a floor. Create the neckline by folding the fabric in half, as shown on picture 2, so that it forms a 2 yards x 30-inch rectangle. Place the fold at the top of your work surface, and mark the midpoint of the folded edge and draw the midline as shown on picture 2. Then measure and mark 4 inches to the left and 4 inches down of that midline (midpoint on the fold line). Draw the line till the edge. Make it as half of oval and cut it as shown on picture 3.

At this point, your poncho is essentially DONE - it can be worn and will work as intended. However, if you have the time (and care to do so), you may want to spend a little extra effort making your poncho cleaner and luxury looking. So, sew both side hems using sewing - machine or do it by hands. Then add a pattern to the edges. I suggest create a fringe by cutting thin strips into the edges or by removing treads from the outermost edge of the designated fringe area!

Plaid is a must have print for my Fall wardrobe. So, is yours!!! Just play by the simple rules of pairing a bold print with something basic–like color matching denim and get a chic look that works even for 9 to 6 dress code! I took a risk here and add the vintage silk foulard and a cap for a little drama! Hope you love it!

Make sure to check this post back tomorrow, I am going to add a really cool selection to buy of glamorous and incredibly cozy plaids.

Happy Monday everyone! Hope you all had an amazing weekend and ready to start a new week! Muah!

THE LITTLE FLORAL DRESS

Who does not love a Little Black Dress (LBD)? Seriously, it is the only piece you can never go wrong with! Even if it is not really black, but floral!!! Duh!

I got this statement retro floral print Vivetta dress with an iconic hand collar at Nordstrorm after searching for months! Really, I was hunting for this dress in my size so bad! I ordered it twice in different sizes, but all of them did not fit perfectly. So I kept searching and searching and finally it is mine! So on time, by the end of cool fall weather!
So, if you are on the hunt for something special, I recommend being very patient. Sometimes it can take weeks or months to find your dream piece, but that is kind of part of the fun! The true shopaholics can clearly understand me!

H&M STUDIO COLLECTION

I am so excited for the season of oversized sweaters and over-the-knee boots. Clearly it is my all time favorite combo! Since I bought this beaded turtleneck sweater from the H&M Studio Collection for Fall/Winter 2015 (It was almost a month ago!), I could not wait for the appropriate weather to wear it! Finally the real Fall had come to NYC for a few days! Ha!

About the collection…  You know I am such a H&M fun, especially of their limited-edition collections, but this time I was a bit disappointed about the prices… It is getting higher and higher and it is so sad. I got this sweater for 199$ plus tax and I clearly understand that I will not wear it as much as I imagined. It weighs almost a ton! Ha! Plus I already replaced some crystals... So, even the collection is full of the hottest looks and statement pieces always remember that is still H&M and it is definitely not worth 200$ for one item.

Another story about boots! I recently got these Stella McCartney beauties for Fall from Saks Off for only 200$ (the retail price is more than 1100$) and at this time it is really worth it. They are fit perfectly (as a glove!!!), they are so comfortable and no doubt over-the-knee boots are the biggest hit of the season!
